From Infertility to Pregnancy

For families trying to conceive, the journey to parenthood can be long and emotionally difficult. Women living in Pakistan’s rural areas with limited access to specialised reproductive healthcare, seeking consistent assistance can have that journey even harder.

In Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, IHHN is strengthening reproductive health services at the Rural Health Center (RHC) Khalabat Township, in collaboration with the Health Department Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and International Rescue Committee (IRC). Through its Telehealth programme, the RHC team can consult specialists in Karachi while continuing to provide care closer to the community.

One 25-year-old patient arrived at the RHC after 3 years of secondary infertility and irregular menstrual cycles. Under the expert care of doctors at the facility, she began a structured care plan that included medical assessments, counselling and regular follow-ups.

With treatment and monitoring, her menstrual cycles became regular. The team then began ovulation induction, closely monitoring her progress over several cycles.

In July, she received the news she had been hoping for: a positive pregnancy test.

She will continue receiving antenatal care at the RHC, where the team will support her throughout her pregnancy.

For her, what began with years of uncertainty has entered a new chapter. With specialised guidance supported through Telehealth, care closer to home, she can now look forward to welcoming her long-awaited child.
