Renewed Hope for Mohammad Riaz

Mohammad Riaz has lived with diabetes for most of his adult life. Thirteen years ago, when his health began to decline, he found his way to IHHN, a place that would later become his lifeline.

The illness took more than his strength. Due to complications, one of his legs had to be amputated below the knees. For a man with six children and a wife who is herself unwell, the loss of mobility felt devastating. “I worried not about myself,” he says, “but about how I would continue to care for my family.”

For nearly nine months, Mohammad Riaz was completely immobile. Simple tasks: standing, moving, cooking; felt impossible. Under the care of Dr. Sheeraz, who operated on his knees, and with continued rehabilitation support from IHHN, his journey slowly changed.

Day by day, he worked towards regaining independence.

Today, Mohammad Riaz lives in Shah Faisal Colony and still turns to IHHN for his treatment and care. He is once again self-sufficient. He can move on his own. He cooks for himself. What once felt like an end has become a new beginning.

His story is not just about survival it is about dignity restored. And about how sustained care, given with compassion, can help someone stand again, even after everything has been taken away.
