Day 3 of IHHN’s Youth Training Programme focused on one of the most important aspects of healthcare; building trust with young patients. Through interactive discussions, roleplay, and live patient interactions, trainees explored how empathy and communication shape paediatric care.
Paediatric Care in Focus
Dr. Muhammad Fareeduddin led an engaging session on the ethics of paediatric care, emphasising the importance of building rapport with children. By creating a safe and trusting environment, healthcare professionals can help young patients express their concerns more openly and receive better care.
Roleplay
To bring these concepts to life, Dr. Fareeduddin conducted a roleplay exercise where he portrayed a reluctant teenage patient refusing an injection. Two trainees stepped into the role of nurses, applying communication techniques to comfort and reassure the patient. The session concluded with reflections and key takeaways on effective paediatric communication.
